The Academic Advancement and Training unit manages personnel processes for academic employees campuswide, including more than 2,000 actions annually related to appointment, advancement, retention, and leaves. The AA&T staff also manages the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding governing non-Senate faculty, provides counsel for campus review panels, analyzes and provides advice on academic personnel issues, and provides background information and advice to the Senior Vice Chancellor regarding various approval and exception requests. In addition, staff members develop, coordinate, and deliver campuswide training for staff and academic appointees, including courses leading to certification in academic personnel, and training and guidance for AP On-Line users.
