UC Proposes New START Program (5-7-08)
In order to help UC cope with anticipated budget cuts, the University is proposing to implement a new Staff and Academic Reduction in Time (START) Program, a temporary voluntary time reduction personnel program, to achieve salary savings.

Annual Statements for UCRP and CAP Available Online (4-15-08)
Employees with a UC Retirement Plan (UCRP) balance and/or the Capital Accumulation Provision (CAP) balance can now view annual statements on At Your Service Online (AYSO).

Staff Equal Opportunity Enrichment Program (SEOEP) Applications Now Being Accepted (4-11-08)
The SEOEP administers training and career development funds for individuals and departments. On the individual level, the program provides up to $500 for training activities to eligible staff employees seeking a promotion or career change. Similarly, the program provides financial assistance to support departmental training and development programs that will enhance the skills of employees to prepare them for career advancement. UCRP Members to Receive Retirement Update [2-19-08]
In February 2008, active UCRP members will receive a Personalized Retirement Update and Readiness Guide similar to the one they received last year. The Update will: Project estimated income and expenses in retirement, Show UCRP, CAP, DC Plan, 403(b) Plan, and 457(b) Plan estimates, all in one place, Demonstrate the effect of increasing contributions to 403(b)/457(b) Plans, and Compare your current investment mix to various sample investment allocations, ranging from conservative to aggressive growth.

UC Public Notice of Research Support Professional and Technical Unit Successor Negotiations [2-11-08]
The Higher Education Employer Employee Relations Act, which governs collective bargaining of higher education employers in the state of California, requires that the University, as the employer, provide notice to the public before it begins negotiations with an exclusive representative. The University and UPTE are scheduled to begin negotiations on March 5, 2008 for a successor contract covering Research Support Professional and Technical Unit employees.

Staffing During the Campus Closure due to Wildfires [10-26-07]
For non-represented staff who were scheduled to work but could not due to the campus closure, emergency paid time off is being granted. For each day that a staff member was scheduled to work but could not between October 22, 2007 and October 26, 2007, a paid emergency day will be applied so that there will be no loss in pay for staff members who were scheduled to work. Non-represented staff members who worked during the closure will be paid for the time worked and in addition will receive one day of paid leave for each day worked, subject to the approval of their supervisors. The days must be used by staff no later than April 30, 2008 and scheduled with supervisory approval. Campus Notice 10-30-07 update

Revised Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Launches in September [8-21-07]
California law (AB 1825), which went into effect in 2005, requires employers to offer all supervisors at least two hours of mandatory training in sexual harassment every two years. During the week of September 10, the Office of the President will roll out a revised online sexual harassment prevention training program to all UC supervisors. A version for faculty will roll out shortly thereafter.
