Sign Up Now for Electronic W-2 (11-9-09)
To receive your 2009 W-2 form electronically, sign up by December 31 on
At Your Service. If you sign up for electronic delivery, you will be able to see
your W-2 form before those who receive a paper form.
Annual Contribution Limits for 403(b) and 457(b) Plans Not Changing in 2010
(10-26-09)
The Internal Revenue Service recently announced that there will be no
change to the Maximum Annual Contribution (MAC) limit for retirement plans in
2010.

Enrollment 2010 (10-20-09)
Open Enrollment begins at 8 a.m., Thursday, October 29, and ends at 5
p.m. on Tuesday, November 24. This is the time of year to review your health and
welfare benefits and decide whether to make any changes.
State Withholding Taxes Accelerate Starting November 1, 2009 (10-19-09)
The California personal income tax withholding tables have been revised
effective for wages paid on November 1 through December 31, 2009. The
withholding rates have been increased by 10% in order to accelerate tax
collections by the State and to prevent under withholding by employees.

Information on Postdoctoral Scholar Bargaining (3-3-09)
On November 3, 2008, the University recognized the United Auto Workers (UAW)
as the exclusive representative of UC's Postdoctoral Scholars for the purposes
of collective bargaining with respect to wages, hours and terms and conditions
of employment. The University has established a
public web site that provides collective bargaining information.
START Program Modified to Allow 5% Reduction in Time (2-20-09)
Effective March 1, 2009, the Staff and Academic Reduction in Time (START)
Program will be modified to lower the minimum allowable reduction in time from
ten percent to five percent as part of the University's effort to implement
additional strategies to respond to the State budget shortfall.

Policy for Re-employment of UC Retirees Now Effective (2-6-09)
To ensure the effectiveness of the University of California's practices
regarding the reemployment of retirees, the University has enacted a new policy
for retired UC employees who return to UC in staff or Senior Management Group
(SMG) positions.
Minimum Required Distributions for UC Retirement Savings Program Suspended for
2009 (2-2-09)
A new federal law suspends for 2009 the Internal Revenue Service regulation
governing Minimum Required Distributions (MRDs) from certain retirement
accounts, including accounts in UC's 403(b) Plan, 457(b) Plan, and DC Plan.
Mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for Supervisors
(2-2-09)
California law (AB 1825), which went into effect in 2005, requires
large employers to provide all supervisors at least two hours of mandatory
training in sexual harassment prevention every two years. At UC San Diego,
faculty and most academic appointees are included in the requirement. The
University Office of the President provides an online program that satisfies the
state law. The online program was taken offline in June 2008 for maintenance,
but will be available again beginning in February.
