Professional and Administrative Review Committee (PARC)
Procedures for Classifying or Reclassifying a Position through PARC

Use this guide to determine which documents will be needed to submit a job classification or reclassification request to the PARC committee. Please do not complete the Online Requisition form for a new position [former PSS Grade J-N] until the position is classified by the SVCAA office.)

1. New Job Description Complete Online Job Description
2. Updated departmental organization chart with new position (org chart must include names and payroll titles of all staff employees and show clear reporting lines). Ask your department for a current copy of the organization chart and update as necessary. Attach org chart to job description in JD Library.
3. Additional supporting documentation justifying position. (Optional but strongly recommended) May be in the form of a memo or email from Business Officer, and may include information on reason(s) for request, comparable positions, etc.

To RECLASSIFY an existing position you will need the following documentation in addition to items 1-3 listed above.

4. Old Job Description Attach old Job Description (or list JD number if in Library).
5. Complete Online Request for Classification Review SupplementUse the old and new Job Description to help with the information requested on this form.

Once you complete the steps outlined above, please route the job card and e-mail any supplemental documentation to Academic Affairs HR Director, Bobb Barile. The Job Description will be reviewed at the next available PARC meeting, generally held on the fourth Friday of every month (see 2007-08 PARC meeting dates). Ad hoc meetings to review urgent recruitments are held the second Friday of the month when necessary. All documentation must be received at least one week prior to the PARC meeting to allow adequate time for review.
