RX/TX Step Conversion June 18, 2004 TO DEPARTMENT HR CONTACTS: According to the current RX and TX contracts, all titles currently assigned to an open-range structure will be converted to a step-based structure effective 7/1/04. Employees in these titles will have their pay rates centrally adjusted to the step and rate that represents the next highest pay interval, unless their current rate already matches a new step/rate. The rate changes will occur effective 7/1/04 for employees paid monthly and 7/4/04 for employees paid biweekly. TX ranges will continue to contain a combination of steps and half-steps. However, all RX ranges will now only contain full steps. Therefore, employees who are already in RX step-based ranges will also be affected by this update, receiving a new step assignment, but no rate change. See the following example of the step conversion process for an SRA I.
Based on a preliminary report, there are MANY employees who will be excluded from this batch update process due to currently assigned ending dates that are prior to 7/1/04. Please review your RX and TX employee records and extend ending dates where appropriate BEFORE 7/8/04. According to the current timeline, we plan on updating PPS with the new step and rate for all affected individuals the night of 7/8/04. Therefore, please refrain from making updates to PPS records for any affected employees on 7/8-7/9, or the update may not occur correctly. You will receive department reports of adjustments made and be able to modify PPS again beginning the week of 7/12/04. Employees paid biweekly will see the new rates of pay reflected in their 7/28/04 pay checks. Employees paid monthly will see the new rates of pay reflected in their 7/30/04 pay checks. Please inform your timekeepers that the Payroll Time Records (PTR) for these employees, for the biweekly pay period 7/4/04-7/17/04 and the monthly pay period 7/1/04-7/31/04, will not reflect the new rates. Timekeepers will need to override the Sub 2 PTRs for these pay periods in order for the employees to be paid at the correct rate. Any questions regarding the overriding of PTRs can be directed to the appropriate sub desk in Payroll. A Blink Title and Pay Plan update is planned prior to 7/1/04 and more information will follow. Thanks for your assistance in this process. Judy Johnson |
