Supervisors Guide to Developing Employee Career Plans - a program focusing on providing supervisors with the tools and resources to assist their employees in developing career plans and meeting their job-related goals. The session included information on how to identify options for acquisition of additional skills and knowledge to foster career growth and meet job-related goals, as well as programs in place at UCSD to facilitate these efforts.

Business Officer Academy (BOA) - an innovative staff enrichment program that provides training, guidance and support to staff members who aspire to become business officers.  The BOA is a two-year program centered around case study, small group discussions and personal interactions such that the participants gain an understanding and appreciation of the role of the business officer at UCSD.

ABA Mentorship Program pairs experienced UCSD managers from academic departments and units and central administration with newer business officers seeking to enhance their management skills, better understand the UCSD organizational culture and develop a network of resources on campus to assist them in their daily work.

Academic Affairs Student Apprenticeship Program is a program designed to offer substantive, practical work-learning experiences to undergraduate and graduate students at UCSD and other local universities in the areas of business and program administration, fiscal management, human resources, information technology, academic research, and student affairs.  UCSD AASAP strives to assist the University in its staff outreach and recruitment, training and development, and succession planning goals.

Staff Education and Development Enrollment Central  Browse the course catalog, enroll in courses, visit the self-study library and access web based training modules.

Career Connection helps UCSD employees who are interested in assistance with career planning, goal setting, and lateral or upward mobility.

How to do well in an interview.  Good preparation, interviewing skills, and follow-through provide candidates with a competitive edge when seeking employment.

Staff Association Scholarships.  Each year the Staff Association awards 10 scholarships.  You must be a Staff Association member to be eligible.

Educational Benefits. UCSD employees receive a variety of educational benefits, depending on eligibility. Benefits include reduced-fee enrollment or discounts on courses.

Promotion Project Training Funds.  Career Connections has revamped the Promotion Project and up to $1,000 in training funds may be available for departments that hire an employee in the Administrative Specialists thru Senior Administrative Analyst series.  Contact Patty Arnett at parnett@ucsd.edu for additional information.
