The Office of Academic Diversity and Equal Opportunity (OADEO) oversees the Academic Personnel Affirmative Action Program as described in the campus Personnel Policy Manual Section 230-6.   To assist departments in their recruitment efforts, OADEO provides them with Best Practice Recruitment Strategies.  In support of equal opportunity, OADEO maintains the campus  Academic Job Opportunities Bulletin.

In compliance with Federal regulations, OADEO annually reviews the Academic Personnel Affirmative Action Program.   In this review, OADEO collects, summarizes, and analyzes data on employment activity, identifies areas of underutilization, and establishes placement goals.  OADEO also describes in this review the action-oriented programs designed to ensure equal opportunity and achieve diversity.

OADEO informs and advises the campus of progress towards diversity as well as the legal aspects of equal opportunity and affirmative action.

OADEO also works closely with the Academic Senate Committee on Affirmative Action and Diversity (CAAD).  This interaction includes implementing the Faculty Career Development Program (FCDP), a program designed to support junior faculty in their efforts to obtain tenured status.
