Senior Seminar Program
OFFICE OF THE SENIOR VICE CHANCELLOR -
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
May 25, 2006
To: ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD
It is my pleasure to announce the new UCSD Senior Seminar Program, beginning in the 2006-07 academic year. Senior Seminars cover a wide range of exciting and provocative topics. This new program will provide you with an additional opportunity to strengthen relationships with faculty in a small class environment and explore advanced topics of mutual interest.
WHAT DOES A SENIOR SEMINAR OFFER?
- Small, informal classes (20-student limit).
- An opportunity to strengthen relationships with faculty members.
- An opportunity to earn 1 unit of credit on a P/NP basis - you may enroll in several different seminars during your academic career.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU IN A SENIOR SEMINAR?
- Seminar attendance is an important factor in your learning due to the reduced workload of a 1-unit course.
- Senior Seminars meet for 8 to 10 hours during the quarter (most seminars meet once a week).
- Senior Seminars may require readings, projects, short papers, or quizzes.
- It is anticipated that 1-2 hours of work per week can be expected outside of the seminar.
A list of the Fall Quarter 2006 Senior Seminars is given below. Enrollment in a Senior Seminar requires a Department stamp. Please visit the Senior Seminar Program website for more details.
