News and Announcements Archive Staffing During the Campus Closure due to Wildfires -For non-represented staff who were scheduled to work but could not due to the campus closure, emergency paid time off is being granted. For each day that a staff member was scheduled to work but could not between October 22, 2007 and October 26, 2007, a paid emergency day will be applied so that there will be no loss in pay for staff members who were scheduled to work. Non-represented staff members who worked during the closure will be paid for the time worked and in addition will receive one day of paid leave for each day worked, subject to the approval of their supervisors. The days must be used by staff no later than April 30, 2008 and scheduled with supervisory approval. Campus Notice 10-30-07 update [10-26-07]Revised Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Launches in September -California law (AB 1825), which went into effect in 2005, requires employers to offer all supervisors at least two hours of mandatory training in sexual harassment every two years. During the week of September 10, the Office of the President will roll out a revised online sexual harassment prevention training program to all UC supervisors. A version for faculty will roll out shortly thereafter. [8-21-07] UC Investments Show Strong Gains, Re-start of Pension Contributions Postponed - The UC Office of the Treasurer announced preliminary figures that indicate UC's investments were up 19.1% during the past fiscal year, outperforming its benchmark by over 1%. UC officials also confirmed that pension contributions, which have not been required of employees for 17 years but were originally slated to resume last month, have been postponed for at least the rest of the 2007-08 fiscal year. Complete details [8-7-07] On-Line Ethics Briefing - The purpose of this briefing is to familiarize all UC employees with the Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct, which were adopted by the UC Regents in May 2005. All university employees, including student employees, are required to take the briefing, either online or through a scheduled in-person class. Those required to take the training will receive an email containing instructions and a personalized link to the thirty-minute briefing.
